Common Mistakes Of An Affiliate Marketer (iii)

By admin On November 22, 2008 Under Work From Home, affiliate marketing

In the world of affiliate marketing where important decisions are made and certain tasks are done, one can’t help but to stumble and fall along the way. It’s not a secret to us how work from home can be very grueling. There are days where we had a wrong approach on things or performed poorly in our affiliate marketing efforts. On that note, some more common mistakes of an affiliate marketer are the following:

On Writing And Content

There are certain affiliate programs that offer their affiliates default or previously made sites, web pages, content or promo campaigns. Although that would be very convenient for your work from home at first, in the long run, you still have to learn to write your own copy or content. You need to learn how to create unique and original content and not just wait for your affiliate program to spoon-feed you.

Always keep in mind that both online readers and search engines love great and fresh content. Also, remember to be careful in copying and pasting content and details because content duplication is one hell of a trouble you don’t want to involve in. A number of people who work from home tend to make that mistake of not thinking out of the box and being creative and informative with their content. Some of them don’t even bother exerting an effort to make his own copy.

On Selecting The Right Products

Several factors are involved and considered when choosing the proper products for you and for your work from home. Basically, you should have the sufficient interest and knowledge of the product before you market it. But common considerations include time, usability and payout. It’s sad to say that some affiliate marketers are still having trouble choosing the right products for them.

For time considerations, you need to think first the amount of time you are willing and able to dedicate to your work from home, specifically affiliate marketing. You may end up in a compromising situation if you take this for granted. On the other hand, the products, services and sites of the program you joined in must be usable and worth it, the kind that people really utilizes often. For the payout factor, one must not solely base his decision on how high the product’s payouts are. A nice thing to do is to compare or weigh in a certain product’s payout per sale over the amount and nature of work that is demanded for one to effectively sell the said product. That way, you’ll have the idea if this product or service is the right one for you.

On Gathering People’s Contacts

Some of these individuals who work from home and call themselves affiliate marketers don’t even bother getting contacts from people at any given opportunity. If you are in the Internet marketing business, you pretty much have the understanding and knowledge on how important it is to get your hands on a prospect’s contact information, most importantly, the e-mail address. This is the most effective way to reach out and keep in touch with your customers.

You should learn how to set up in your site a very friendly tool that captures and stores email addresses. We’re talking about auto-responders here. Also, it would help if you develop a strategy to get curious onlookers’ contact information, their emails for instance. You could try putting in a squeeze page or giving out freebies like free e-books or reports, those kind of things. If they are interested, they should leave their names along with their e-mails. This is one of the basic principles but others still make a mistake for ignoring this crucial part of one’s work from home.

Other common mistake of an affiliate marketer is not having confidence in himself that he can do it no matter how challenging work from home can be. Not dealing well with his lack of commitment and necessary tools and resources is also another error that an affiliate marketer usually does.
