E-book Tips: Taking Notes From The Other Side

By admin On April 9, 2010 Under Forums and Forum Posting, Work From Home

If your work from home involves writing and selling e-books, then it won’t be that surprising if you have been searching for a number of e-book tips and articles online. Creating those e-books may sound as easy as writing articles, but that’s not entirely true. You see, there are some things that need to be considered in writing e-books, which are not existing when you are producing articles, such as relevant subtopics, the documentation and the method of sales and distribution for the said e-book. So in a way, it’s much different.

Why don’t you conduct a little experiment that can help you improve what you are doing in your work from home, which is e-book writing? Try a different experience. See things from the opposite angle. Be a customer, instead of a writer. Walk in their shoes so that you will be able to understand what they really need.

Start by searching an e-book that you would like to purchase. Go through the usual stuff customers go through when they are looking for their desired e-books. Where do they mostly go? Is their a directory online or a site that lists website links of those people selling e-books. Come to think of it. You might want to include your official site there. Furthermore, find out what they usually type in the search box and what E-book Tips: Taking Notes From The Other Side, work from home, e-book tips, e-booksniche or topic most people search for. The details you can get here will give you an idea what your target audience want to learn and understand. By doing so, you can come up with e-books that are really suited for their needs and demands.

Another one of those e-book tips embracing the concept of switching places with the customers is in terms of purchasing. From someone who sells e-books, try becoming the buyer now so you would know what’s going on in the minds of your customers. If you want to buy e-books, what would you do? What kind of online transaction do you prefer? Are you comfortable paying through your credit or debit card? Keep in mind that you can’t really pay hard, cold cash online. Will using Paypal do? These burning questions can actually help you with your work from home because queries like that makes you think stuff like how you will sell the said e-books and how to get payments from your customers without giving them too much hassle.

What about the presentation or documentation of an e-book? This is where you put yourself as a reader. There are e-books out there that have great content but are painful to read because of annoying font styles, unnecessary images, inconsistent spacing or paging, etc. If you don’t want to read those poorly documented e-books, then it must be something similar to how your customers and readers would react if you mess up with your e-book documentation.

Keep in mind these e-book tips that you have known by posing as a customer. They will help you make an informative decision later on as to what you should improve, whether it’s your writing style, your approach, your presentation or something else. Somehow, it’s true when they say: “Put yourself in other people’s shoes,” because if you really want to understand what some individuals are going through, you have to be in their place. Writing and selling e-books for your work from home is quite a good opportunity, but whether it’s going to work for you or not is all up to you. Nonetheless, you can always try taking notes from the other site to find out.
