Aside from article marketing, another free and quite effective advertising strategy and work from home is forum marketing. All you need to do is find an online forum related to your niche or business, sign up and use every feature and tool in that forum to market your sites, products or services. But the most powerful forum feature and any Internet marketer would agree with this is the forum signature. It can actually make or break you and your online career. People even regard it as the key to forum marketing success.

We all know that most, if not all, online forums allow the signature feature. Some may require a specific number of posts, days of membership or rep (reputation) points before enabling this tool but the vast majority of forums are granting access to it immediately after sign-up. That’s a good thing since it is somehow one step away from your forum marketing success. What makes this signature feature so significant is the fact that this is where you input the link to either your site, your online business, affiliates, products, services, blogs, etc. In short, if people would like to see what you have to offer, they just have to find your forum signature. And it’s not that hard to find since it shows up right after your posts, unless you chose it not to appear there. If that’s the case, they can still find it on your forum profile.

Though the forum signature is highly important in your forum marketing success and your advertising efforts, it is also this thing that most people do or understand incorrectly. It doesn’t mean that because you have the forum signature enabled, you can use it anytime, anywhere around the forum. You should not post for the sake of just exposing your signature line nor for the sake of selling your stuff. If you’re new to the forum and you start selling your products or services and you keep on badgering other members, you’ll be considered as a spammer. The moderators will then kick you out of the forum together with your dreams of having forum marketing success.

What you really need to do is observe, contribute, participate and most importantly, build trust and credibility. In other words, develop first your reputation in that forum before going gaga over making a sale or closing a deal. If you have created that good reputation, people will begin to trust you, your sincerity and professionalism and they will keep on coming back and purchase what you have in store for them. It just goes to show that the signature is not exactly the key to forum marketing success but one’s reputation is.
