I am here at a forum newcomer. Until I read and deal with the forum.
Let’s learn!
Kicking It Off With Your Forum Marketing Efforts
What does an online entrepreneur do after setting up his own website for money? Where do the efforts of most people who work from home turn to when they have finished making their sites? Probably, the answer would be marketing. It’s about getting the word out about your site and business. And we all know there are numerous ways to advertise your website. But some start with online forums.
Site promotion through forums can be of different approaches. Say, let’s start with the signature feature. This is where you can leave a link to your site so that whenever you post something or contribute in the discussion, these link will be shown below your post or reply. That way, members of the forum and other guests will be able to check your work from home and your site out if they want to. However, there are some forums who don’t have this feature. The nearest solution would be placing that link in your profile.
But before you go on with your marketing efforts using the forum, you have to make sure you don’t cross any lines. As much as possible, read carefully the forum rules and guidelines. For example, certain discussion boards or threads allow direct advertising. You can take advantage of that feature. Still, some forums don’t have this kind of thread or permit this kind of activity and they state it clearly in their guidelines. If you didn’t take the time to study these rules thoroughly and just assumed it was alright to promote your products, site or work from home blatantly, you’re likely to get a warning or worse, be banned from that forum. So if the moderators only a want a subtle marketing, you don’t have a choice but to obey or you can start finding other forums.
As long as you already have the hang of posting in forums, you may start joining in more. In fact, it’s quite advisable to participate in four or five or six forums and constantly contributing in them. In no time, people will start noticing you as an active and helpful member. This is the first few steps in driving traffic to your work from home. Moreover, it’s best to drop by at the Introductions thread, if there’s any, especially if you’re just starting with another forum. See how they welcome you and take you in the circle. Forum members may be generous enough to give you some tips. Even just quick greetings and little encouragements will set the pace. Build first your reputation and make some friends. This will help you with your online business in the long run.
Like what they always say, people will start noticing you and eventually your site if you participate well and contribute meaningful stuff inside the forum. You can establish yourself as an expert on your field if you can give out comments and replies that are very much useful to others. Also, if you offer to answer their questions and concerns professionally and in a friendly manner, you will leave a good impression not only to the people you’ve assisted directly but also to those who have witnessed and observed your kind attitude in the public threads. Prove to them that you don’t only work from home for yourself but you’re also there for others.
That being said, you know now that lending a helping hand can draw out a good karma for your work from home and doing the opposite won’t do any better like destroying the mood of the discussion by posting annoying, irrelevant and offensive comments or posts. Unless you want your credibility to suffer and be banned from the forum, then go ahead.
Lastly, if you have to pick a forum to join in, you need to get the best ones, those with higher PR values. You need all the inbound links and the quality traffic that you can get for your site and for your work from home, right? If you do things properly and strategically, it won’t be long till you’re marketing efforts through online forums will start to pay off.
