One way to give back or, shall we say, pay forward to the people who made your work from home successful is to render the best customer service that you can to them. But of course, we are aware that it’s easier to find customers than to keep them. Take this for example. Have you ever bought something from someone or some place and had regrets about it? Didn’t you promise yourself not to ever buy from that place or person again? If you don’t put much effort in your customer service or relations, your clients will likely feel the same way. That would mean losing them and loss of customers equals lost of profits. So it’s understood by any Internet marketer that customer service, as part of their work from home, must be given due attention and effort as well. Or else, it will be goodbye for your online business.
As much as possible, one must avoid getting tagged as an individual or a company who doesn’t care or doesn’t recognize the worth of its customers. You all know how it works. When you please or satisfy a customer, they don’t usually give feedback about their positive experience with you. But if you pissed off a client, most likely, he will tell everyone about the experience and spread the word like wildfire. With the use of the Internet today, that wouldn’t be very hard for him. But it’s going to hit you and your work from home hard if you do nothing about it.
A good customer service may start off as quick responses to customer’s questions and clarifications, usually through e-mails or private messages. Acknowledging feedback, whether positive or negative, and suggestions contributes to a good customer service too. Reassuring customers that you will take proper action whenever there’s an error caused by you or on your side also helps developing a sound customer relations, which may bring more productive opportunities for your work from home.
The entire concept of fostering a great customer service would be listening to and understanding your customer’s wants, needs, concerns and complaints. Even if it sounds legitimate or not, even if it’s reasonable or not, you should address the problem at hand with utmost professionalism and deal with your customers as friendly and as courteous as possible. That way, they will see how you respect and treat
them as customers. More often than not, they will start respecting you and your business as well. That would be nice for the image and reputation of your work from home.
It’s really not that simple to create good customer relations and provide excellent customer service, especially in today’s world where everybody expects a lot from everybody and that a tiny flaw or mistake could draw in endless critics. But if you’re dedicated to your work from home and you value your online career very much, you will eventually find ways to handle customer service effectively since you know that these people serve as fuel that keeps your business up and running. No matter how you look at it, they will also be the ones responsible in putting you at the pedestal of success.
