Work From Home Toolkits: Exploring Cool Features Of Bing

By admin On October 2, 2009 Under Internet Tools and Resources, Work From Home

The world of online community is a virtual battlefield where competition is all over the place. Everyone from multinational companies to the average Internet marketer is in a constant race to be at the top of his or her field or chosen niche. Microsoft’s new addition, Bing, joins the battle for search engine supremacy. It is being introduced by the said company as a “decision engine,” breaking new grounds to how people search for information online.

Bing.com has many cool features up on its sleeves to provide the user a unique yet effective experience as they scour for details over the Internet. One of the nicest features of this web search engine is the Smart Preview feature for its videos. It works as simple as hovering your mouse pointer to the video thumbnail and getting a sneak peek of what’s in that video as it automatically plays some parts of it. This is pretty much helpful because you don’t have to click on a video link and wait for a few seconds for it to load and play and find out it’s not what you are looking for. That will just be a waste of time for your work work from home.

Another good thing about its media features is if you can adjust or narrow down your search according to known video properties such as length, screen size, resolution and source. For the video length, your search options are short, which is less than five minutes long, medium, which is five to 20 minutes and long, which is more than 20 minutes. The screen size or type is available in standard and wide screen form. If you are looking for videos either with a low, medium or high resolution, that can also be possible. The sources for these videos include several video sharing and networking sites like Youtube, MySpace, Hulu, Dailymotion, Metacafe and others.

Of course, when we talk about media features, it doesn’t concern videos alone. Bing also aims to provide its users the best experience when it comes to searching images online. It is known to come up with a huge number of images very fast and the great news is you don’t have to click “Next” and wait for the page to load with the next set of pictures because it has a continuous scrolling feature. All you have to do is scroll up and down to view all those images in the search results.

Just like videos, you can also refine your search with the following image properties: image size (small, medium, large, wallpaper), layout (square, wide, tall), color (either black and white or with color), style (photograph or illustration) and people (if you want your search results to display either only the face, the head along with the shoulder, full body or other options). That is quite beneficial especially if you are searching for images to be used in your work from home.

Another great feature of Bing is the Visual Search wherein you have the option to search according to so-called “data catalogues” or “data categories.” Some examples are Top Albums, Popular Celebrities, etc. An added genuine touch is the background image in its homepage that changes daily and provides some related information. This is one cool way to get people’s attention and keep them interested.

Bing is the newest thing to have ventured into the world of search engines and it’s too early to tell if it can shake up the already shaky competition between today’s two top search engines. But it’s off to a good start and if it continues to provide wonderful services and features to companies, groups and individuals, not just those who work from home but the general public as well, it may be just the next big thing when it comes to web search engines.
